Cosmetic Dermatology

It is a common misconception that scientific advances in the field of cosmetic treatments come from the area of plastic surgery. In reality, it is dermatologists who are behind many of the advanced procedures that eliminate lines, plump lips and refine the skin.

At AboutSkin Dermatology, our commitment to our patients spans into the area of cosmetic dermatology, wherein we offer treatments such as:
  • Botox, Dysport, and Xeomen
  • Fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane, Radiesse, Sculptra and Belotero
  • Sclerotherapy
  • Chemical Peel
  • SilkPeel Dermal Infusion
  • DermaSweep
  • Laser and Light-based therapy
  • Photodynamic therapy
  • SkinTyte
As the area of cosmetic dermatology is continually evolving, our doctors take consistent steps to stay up-to-date with advances in this specialization. Through continued education and interaction with peers at a local and global level, we are able to include the latest technology, products, and techniques to our patients as they come about. Our aim is to utilize advances after careful consideration, ensuring each has been proven safe as well as effective.

As the skin ages, it develops more specific needs due to the fact that the body stops producing elements like collagen and hyaluronic acid in abundance as it once did. You may experience these changes as the development of fine lines around the eyes or mouth, or deeper lines between the eyebrows from years of frowning against the sun. Some patients notice lines only during facial expression, where others notice them at all times. By discovering just how and when lines appear, our physicians can tailor your treatment to your specific needs, thereby producing the most natural cosmetic results.

We also address issues such as spider veins, stretch marks, and scars through various treatment options. As no patient is the same, we have compiled a variety of remedies ranging from light-based therapy to topical medication to dermal infusions. In some cases, therapies are combined to promote health and provide long lasting results that will leave the patient feeling absolutely confident in his or her appearance.

We all want to love the skin we're in. To discover the optimal way to achieve your aesthetic goals, contact us for your cosmetic dermatology consultation.

MicroNeedling

Micro-Needling is a non-laser procedure that works to rejuvenate and tighten the skin surface with improvements in texture, sun damage and scarring. It is effective over a series of treatments in reducing fine-lines, pores, pigmentation, stretch marks, surgical scars and acne scars. It is safe on any skin type (but not tanned skin) with minimal discomfort. Fractional micro-needling - or collagen induction therapy (CIT) – uses tiny needles to stamp the skin in a controlled and precise pattern. The stamping action creates micro-injuries to the skin, which stimulates new collagen production. In doing so, these micro-injuries encourage and harness the body's innate ability to repair the skin through normal physiological processes.

For maximal improvement we recommend a series of 3-5 treatments, usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart, although longer intervals between treatments are acceptable. Some conditions with more severe textural changes such as surgical or acne scarring may require more treatments. Micro-needling does not replace ablative laser resurfacing which still provides the best results for lines, wrinkles, sun damage, and scars. However, micro-needling offers an excellent complement to laser resurfacing. As a minimal downtime procedure, micro-needling treatments can be spaced between or after laser treatments to enhance and maintain the effects of laser resurfacing, thus taking advantage of the synergy of these treatment modalities.

Micro-needling allows for the enhanced and controlled absorption of active topical agents such as Tensage growth factors, which are applied to the skin before treatment and continued on a daily basis after treatment. The topicals enter the micro-injuries created by the needles and penetrate deep into the skin where their effects are most beneficial. The choice of topical is determined by the unique needs of your skin.

Englewood Cosmetic Dermatology - Before and After Images
"I went to Dr. Cohen because he literally treats a bunch of my friends for cosmetics. They look fantastic and most important "natural". They told me that Cohen is "THE GUY NATIONALLY AND EVEN INTERNATIONALLY". They were beyond right. My husband thinks I look great, my kids and friends agree. I finally feel like my face matches how I personally feel, as I stay in shape and take good care of myself. Cohen's laser treatments and Juvederm injections got me here, and I am THRILLED. Now I see why he has such a huge following of patients, writes textbooks, lectures all over the world, and has been interviewed in many magazines like the NY Times and appeared on "The Doctors". He is a GEM. And he is humble guy, who is an absolute perfectionist. I hope he stays in Denver."
