Part of providing you with the best care for your skin is our commitment to advanced training, which each of our physicians consistently receives. It is through such continued education that we discover innovative tools such as the dermatoscope, a diagnostic tool used to by the physician to assist in the evaluation of skin lesions.
The dermatoscope is a hand-held device our doctors use to get a better view of the skin than we can observe with our eyes alone. Equipped with a bright light source and polarized filters which remove glare, this microscope magnifies the skin 10 times. This magnification under light allows your doctor to see the intricate details that make up moles and other skin lesions. Even more importantly, the dermatoscope gives us a peek into the deeper layers of the skin, that cannot be viewed with the naked eye.
There is a significant benefit to the use of this advanced tool, which has been widely used in Europe and Australia for the past decade. Because the dermatoscope allows your doctor to view a mole or lesion in greater detail, he or she has the improved ability to more accurately diagnose possible dangerous skin conditions, such as melanoma.
Each of our doctors has extensive training that allows him or her to meet your every need when it comes to your skin, the largest and most visible organ. Whether you are struggling with acne, an unwanted scar, or are concerned about a suspicious mole, we can assess and recommend the most suitable treatment to restore your skin to its most healthy state.
