Improving the look of the skin takes advanced skill and innovative technology. Today, the power of ultrasound has been harnessed with the Ulthera technology. With Ultherapy, we can visualize the areas below the skin and target the deep tissues that are typically addressed through a surgical facelift procedure.
Ultherapy has been approved by the FDA for the lifting and tightening of loose, sagging skin. AboutSkin Dermatology has been involved in past and current Ulthera research studies, and we are on the leading edge of the latest treatment techniques for optimal outcomes.
Areas for treatment include:
- Brows (for lifting)
- Jowls and jawline
- Neck and under chin
- Chest / décolletage
There are no injections, cutting, or sutures and none of the risks associated with anesthetic. Plus, there’s minimal downtime with Ultherapy. You may return to work or usual activities next day.
Before and After Gallery
Ultherapy directs micro-focused ultrasound energy towards the skin. This energy passes safely through the skin and heats the underlying connective tissues to the precise temperature at which collagen production is stimulated as part of the body’s natural repair process. As your body regenerates collagen, skin begins to lift and tighten visibly (usually in two to three months). Because we can visualize the tissues we are targeting throughout the treatment process, we can accurately focus energy where it is most needed for the desired tightening effect.
Aging is a natural process we cannot stop. Many of our patients are able to continue enjoying more youthful looking skin with touch-up treatments tailored to the pace of their own unique aging process. Depending on the individual biological response to treatment and to the aging process itself, some patients may find that optimal results are achieved through more than one treatment followed by maintenance treatments usually no sooner than one year apart.
Your skin is cleansed and coated with a coupling gel. The licensed aesthetician guides the Ulthera treatment handpiece over the areas on the face, neck, or chest where rejuvenating lifting is desired. The use of ultrasound imaging gives your provider a clear view of your tissue layers, enabling them to deposit energy precisely into the most beneficial zones.
You will feel the sensation of energy entering your skin and creating a thermal response beneath the surface. Treatment is generally well tolerated. Your skin may appear slightly flushed, or feel tender, tingly, or swollen, but those side effects are mild and temporary. There is no downtime – you may return to normal activities right away.
Over the next two to three months, skin lifts and tightens noticeably as your body regenerates collagen. Many patients get desired results from one 60 to 90 minute session, but depending on your specific response to ultrasound, additional treatments may be needed for optimal results.
